MOVING ON SEEMS SO MUCH HARDER TODAY. 4 YEARS WITHOUT YOU HERE MUM

BRICKS MAG

St.Mary's hospital had become my new home, late nights and early mornings in room 4 of the intensive care unit. I'd been there for 4 weeks, crying, hoping, praying to a god that I don’t believe in, that you’d pull through. But when I left the morning of November 7th 2015, I left without you.

I couldn’t have asked for someone better than you, Mum. I love you with everything that I am, 'till our souls collide.

Signed - your not-so-little boy.

A LETTER TO THE OPPOSITION

ABORTIONS: YOUR BODY, YOUR CHOICE

POLYESTER

I'm sad that people who can conceive have no control over their own bodies. I'm sad that many people will be forced to parent a child they find so hard to love. I'm sad that many children won't have a place to call home. I'm sad that children will be forced to raise children. I'm sad that one-night love affairs could leave a life-long consequence.

We are stripping people of their human rights, children can be the most beautiful, fulfilling and rewarding creation to a willing parent.

Signed, Kenny Ethan Jones

I find it difficult to understand why people are so bothered that Always have now removed the Venus logo from its packaging. It is not an attack on women, it’s not denying the existence of women nor is it an attempt to erase them.

It’s an opportunity to become inclusive, which in my opinion has no impact on women. What it will do is remove some of the discomfort and stigma associated around trans, non-binary and intersex individuals who have to buy and use these products.

ELLA ONE

My understanding of safe sex was the absolute minimal. As trans men, we slipped through the gaps of sex education. I felt so lost, at one point I researched both lesbian and gay sexual advice and just guessed what information was most likely to affect me.

YOU CAN IDENTIFY AS A TRANS MAN AND BE STRAIGHT, BISEXUAL, GAY OR ANY LABEL OF YOUR CHOOSING

Your gender identity and your sexual orientation are completely different.

I had my heart set on walking the runway, but as a trans man of colour who is under 6 foot, it was always going to be a massive challenge

LFW has grown to accept more diversity in models. Spring 2019’s London shows featured 36.2 per cent of models of colour, and 16 trans women and non-binary models, yet only two of those were people of colour, so it’s safe to say that someone of my circumstance was in a tiny minority

GETTING MY PERIOD MADE ME FEEL LIKE LESS OF A MAN EVEN THOUGH I KNEW I WAS

SELF

Not everyone who gets a period is a woman.

I’M A TRANS MAN, AND I USED TO GET A NORMAL PERIOD.

This actually isn’t shocking or surprising, as so many trans guys and non-binary individuals deal with this. But it’s a challenge of being trans that often gets overlooked, which is why I’m so motivated to talk about it (and why I was thrilled to be a part of Pink Parcel’s campaign to help normalize periods).
